SMS verification consent and message flow
This page documents how users expressly opt in to receive one-time verification codes from Sentella before the first SMS is sent.

The user initiates verification
During account creation, activation, or recovery in the Sentella app, the user enters a phone number they control.
The user chooses a channel
The app presents two separate choices: “Text me a code” and “Call me with a code.” SMS is optional and is not preselected or triggered automatically.
The user reviews and accepts the SMS disclosure
When SMS is chosen, the app displays a separate consent checkbox. It is unchecked by default. The user must check it before the “Text me a code” action can send a message.
Sentella sends the requested code
After consent is recorded, Sentella sends one six-digit verification code. The code expires after 10 minutes. Resends occur only when requested by the user and are rate-limited.
